Sonja Inglin has broad-based experience in environmental law.
Sonja counsels clients regarding regulatory compliance with respect to a wide range of environmental compliance issues, including storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous wastes; OSHA requirements and workplace exposure issues involving hazardous materials; permitting and compliance with respect to air emissions; site assessment and soil and groundwater remediation; release reporting; and compliance with California’s Proposition 65 “right to know” legislation and newly-adopted federal and state legislation involving lead and other chemicals in consumer products. Her work in the regulatory compliance area includes representing clients before a wide range of state and federal administrative agencies, and the defense of administrative orders issued by environmental agencies and of penalty claims. She also assists clients in assessing environmental liabilities in connection with the sale and disposition of businesses and real property, and in negotiating environmental indemnities and warranties.
Sonja’s practice also includes representing clients in environmental litigation in both state and federal courts. She defends clients in enforcement actions brought by state and federal environmental agencies. She also represents clients in the prosecution and defense of private party claims under state and federal environmental statutes, such as CERCLA and related state Superfund statutes and RCRA citizen’s suit actions. Sonja also represents clients in prosecuting and defending contractual indemnity and common law claims related to environmental liabilities. Her practice includes defending chemical manufacturers and distributors in workplace toxic tort cases and the representation of PRPs sued in mass tort cases involving exposures associated with contaminated groundwater and landfill Superfund sites.
