Susan L. Atkinson has been an Employee Benefits paralegal for over twenty years prior to joining Baker Hostetler.
Ms. Atkinson’s initial experience was for a period of thirteen years with a major Cleveland law firm concentrating on governmental and regulatory compliance work in the area of defined contribution and defined benefit plans. During that time she was also involved in asbestos and antitrust litigation matters as well as business reorganization procedures.
Ms. Atkinson’s next ten years were with a large multinational corporation where she assisted the Employee Benefits attorneys in their duties at the corporation in addition to having primary responsibility for the management, analysis, interpretation and administration of qualified domestic relations orders and qualified medical child support orders for tax-qualified employee benefit plans worldwide, initiated and assisted in developing a company-wide research website, and ensured that the individual investment managers voted the proxies required by the master pension trust pursuant to guidelines established in the best interest of shareholders.
Ms. Atkinson’s most recent experience was to coordinate the amendment, restatement and determination letter filing for approximately 100 defined contribution plans for a large retirement plan services corporation.
