Teresa C. Chow focuses her practice on complex business and commercial litigation in both state and federal courts. She has handled a broad range of matters, including ones relating to commercial contract disputes, misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair business practices, commercial fraud, fraudulent conveyances, enforcement of judgments and malicious prosecution. Prior to joining Baker Hostetler, Ms. Chow was an associate at a California-based law firm, specializing in the defense of major domestic air carriers in cases arising out of everything from catastrophic injuries to ethnic and religious discrimination and profiling. Ms. Chow’s briefing and oral argumentation skills were decisive in obtaining dismissals in a number of high exposure cases, including ones involving complex product liability and subrogation issues.
In 2008, Ms. Chow second-chaired a federal jury trial in the United States District Court, Southern District of California, resulting in a unanimous defense verdict in a case involving claims of defamation, assault and battery and other personal torts against a major domestic air carrier. Ms. Chow participated in all aspects of the trial, including witness preparation, examination and cross-examination.
Also in 2008, Ms. Chow was named a “Southern California Rising Star” in the area of civil litigation, a distinction conferred upon no more than 2.5 percent of California attorneys. Southern California Rising Stars, published annually in Los Angeles Magazine, recognizes up-and-coming young attorneys who are no more than 40 years old and have been practicing for no more than 10 years.
Ms. Chow is conversant in Mandarin Chinese.
