Thomas W. Kahle

Thomas Kahle has practiced in business and corporate law with special emphasis on healthcare law, particularly the transactional and regulatory needs of nonprofit or mission-driven organizations, for more than 35 years. In addition, he is a former national co-leader of Baker Hostetler’s Healthcare Industry Team. Mr. Kahle’s healthcare law experience includes coordinating the legal representation of hospital and healthcare systems in affiliation, merger, purchase and sale transactions, including strategic planning and special counseling to Boards of Trustees, coordinating the legal representation of a public entity in its reorganization into a private, nonprofit entity, coordinating the general legal representation of hospitals, long-term care facilities, physician groups, home health agencies, dental health maintenance organizations and other providers of healthcare, medical and dental services. Additionally, Mr. Kahle counsels Boards of Directors and Trustees of nonprofit organizations regarding strategic and affiliation matters.

Mr. Kahle also serves as the Business Group Coordinator for Baker Hostetler’s Cincinnati office, focusing his practice on financing and transactions matters. His financing work includes representation of underwriters of debt and equity securities, borrowers and lenders in conventional financing and tax-exempt financing, independent trustees and financial advisors, with special emphasis on financing of healthcare and senior living providers.

Mr. Kahle’s experience in mergers and acquisitions include representation for both acquiring and acquired parties of foreign and domestic clients in public and privately held corporations, including mergers, joint ventures, purchase and sales of nonprofit and for-profit healthcare providers.

Mr. Kahle has been a member of the Boards of several charitable and religious organizations, as well as public and private corporations, including Lumex, Inc., and Cybex International, Inc., and currently serves on the Boards of the Episcopal Retirement Homes, Inc., (past Chair) and the FreeStore Foodbank Foundation.

Mr. Kahle is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, has been named an Ohio “Super Lawyer” in Healthcare by Law & Politics and is listed as one of Cincinnati’s Top 125 Leading Lawyers by the publishers of Cincy Magazine.
