Tiffany Cummins has experience representing employer interests in both the public and private sectors, with an emphasis on litigating employment class actions claiming violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 or other federal and state civil rights laws, and collective actions asserting claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Prior to joining Baker Hostetler, Ms. Cummins worked as a member of the United States Postal Service’s National Employment Litigation Unit. At the Postal Service, Ms. Cummins defended nationwide employment class actions involving 20,000 to more than 120,000 class members in federal court and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Among her more notable accomplishments on behalf of the Postal Service, Ms. Cummins was appointed as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Texas and successfully defeated conditional certification of a FLSA collective action with more than 27,000 putative class members. She also gained extensive experience advising on, and litigating issues arising under, the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Prior to joining the Postal Service, Ms. Cummins served as Senior Law Clerk to the Honorable Mary S. Scriven, United States District Court Judge for the Middle District of Florida. In this capacity, Ms. Cummins drafted numerous orders and judgments and advised the court on a variety of employment law issues, including issues arising under the FLSA, the ADA and Title VII.
Ms. Cummins’s private sector experience includes working as an employment and labor associate for a large, international firm in Washington, D.C., where she advised clients on a variety of employment law issues and defended both class and single-plaintiff claims.
While in law school, Ms. Cummins served as the Editor-in-Chief of the University of Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy, the Secretary of the Labor and Employment Law Society and a Teaching Assistant for Legal Research and Writing and Appellate Advocacy. Ms. Cummins also served as Senior Research Assistant to Professor Michael L. Seigel. Among other accolades Ms. Cummins received in law school, she was recognized for her outstanding work delivering pro bono legal services to the needy.
Ms. Cummins is a member of the Florida Bar, the Federal Bar Association and the Orange County Bar Association.
