Udyogi Hangawatte works on a variety of litigation matters, including complex commercial litigation, government contracts, bankruptcy and civil rights litigation. Ms. Hangawatte has represented clients in both state and federal court, as well as in private arbitration.
Ms. Hangawatte has represented clients in procurement and non-procurement matters concerning contract award controversies with the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Health and Human Services, including bid protests before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
Ms. Hangawatte is a member of the Baker Hostetler team serving as court-appointed counsel to the SIPA Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.
Prior to joining Baker Hostetler in 2010, Ms. Hangawatte practiced in the Los Angeles office of a large law firm and the Las Vegas office of a boutique litigation firm. During law school, she served as an extern to the Honorable Stephen Reinhardt of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She was the Articles Editor of the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs and a Managing Editor of the Asian Pacific American Law Journal. Ms. Hangawatte also was a President of the UCLA South Asian Law Students Association.
Ms. Hangawatte is a member of the American and South Asian Bar Associations, as well as the Yale Club of Washington, D.C.
