A member of BakerHostetler’s Employment Deal team, Alexa Cellier represents and counsels both public and private employers on labor and employment matters. She provides advice concerning background checks, drug testing, wage and hour compliance, leave of absence policies, classification of exempt status, employee discipline and other matters. She also drafts employment, separation and related agreements, assists with reductions in force and conducts investigations of employee misconduct. Over the past two years, Alexa has provided advice concerning COVID-19 vaccination and testing issues with respect to employment. 

Regarding litigation, Alexa defends employers against discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination claims. She also litigates noncompetition and trade secret cases for both plaintiffs and defendants.


  • Obtained a settlement payment for a healthcare company plaintiff enforcing a non-competition agreement against former employees.
  • Drafted a Title IX Policy for a university based on updated regulations.
  • Advised a work group concerning implementation of civilian oversight of police.
  • Conducts discrimination and harassment investigations for public employers.
  • Revises employee handbooks and related policies.
  • Assists with arbitrations involving termination of employment for police officers, pilots, bus drivers and other union members.
  • Prepares witnesses for fact-findings and similar hearings with respect to collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Prepares witnesses for and defends depositions in employment litigation matters.
  • Obtained preliminary injunctions for employers in noncompetition and trade secret cases.
  • Settled several employment discrimination charges before they reached litigation.
