Anthony Severyn advises and represents employers on a wide scope of labor and employment law matters, including litigation before federal and state agencies. He leverages his own employment background in a variety of industries, including hospitality, skilled labor and retail, to provide prudent and practical advice to clients.
Anthony frequently defends against whistleblower-retaliation and discrimination charges, reviews and researches restrictive covenants under state law and assists in the labor bargaining and grievance process. He has also served in a fact-investigator capacity in human relations matters and assisted in challenging adverse decisions by the Small Business Administration related to Covid-19 workforce loans. Separately, Anthony is tracking developments related to state and local pay-transparency laws and enforcement actions.
Additionally, Anthony has interacted with and understands the issues of government employees and their constituents. He has performed legal work and conducted detailed research on public records and sunshine laws, conflicts of interest and ethics issues and breaches-of-contract and contract-interpretation matters.
Previously, Anthony researched and analyzed various labor and employment matters for the National Labor Relations Board and the U.S. Department of Labor, including liability under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA); investigating allegedly unfair labor practices under the NLRA; and overseeing fair labor elections.
