Baker Biz Boost

At BakerHostetler, we recognize the importance of minority and women-owned small businesses. They are incredibly beneficial to our communities and to our local economies. The events of 2020 have served as a stark reminder that there is still so much injustice that sadly remains in our society today. Today and every day BakerHostetler stands against discrimination and for equality. Embracing people of all backgrounds is essential to our identity and to our business. We believe in uniting with our communities to make changes against systemic oppression. Our hope is by starting the Baker Biz Boost program, that we can show support to those small business owners who may be facing unnecessary obstacles on their way to achieving success. The Baker Biz Boost program aims to deliver quality legal services to women and people of color with their small businesses in the communities where they reside and conduct their businesses.

Baker Biz Boost will assist entrepreneurs of color and women entrepreneurs by providing up to 50 hours of pro bono legal services. We recognize the importance of applying our expertise and resources to assist those in need. When the firm accepts a pro bono matter, we are committed to supporting that representation fully, with the same standards of professionalism, excellence, and respect as any work undertaken by the firm.

Businesses eligible to apply for the program should be minority- or women-owned and meet one of the following criteria:

  • Less than an average of $400,000 in annual operating revenue over the past two years
  • Less than $500,000 in assets or $250,000 in liquid assets

Inclusion in the Baker Biz Boost program will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
