WASHINGTON, Oct. 6, 2022

BakerHostetler is pleased to announce that the firm’s Litigation, Digital Assets and Data Management, Labor and Employment, and Intellectual Property Practice Groups were recognized in BTI’s Litigation Outlook 2023, which highlights the most feared law firms in litigation. Compiled by BTI Consulting Group, Inc., the report honors the law firms that clients do not want to see as an opponent. Firms named in this report are referred to by clients as valorous, savvy, super smart, energized, mobilized and unabating.

“BakerHostetler continues to build on its litigation strength — clients recognize the firm as ‘Best of the Best’ in both cybersecurity litigation and product liability litigation in our new study of the litigation market,” says Michael B. Rynowecer, President of The BTI Consulting Group, which directs the study. “The firm enjoys client recognition in 5 more categories.” Rynowecer continues. “This is one of the stronger showings.”

Digital Assets and Data Management

BakerHostetler’s DADM practice group was named a ‘Powerhouse’ for cybersecurity litigation, which placed it among the top 1% in the legal industry.

“Privacy, data collection and cybersecurity litigation can affect the way businesses operate and we are honored so many companies entrust us to defend them,” said Ted Kobus, BakerHostetler’s DADM Practice Group chair. “It is gratifying to be recognized for outstanding client service and especially satisfying to receive the top honor two years in a row.”

BakerHostetler was one of only five firms to be named a cybersecurity litigation ‘Powerhouse.’

Litigation

The firm’s national Litigation Practice Group was named an ‘Intimidating Opponent,’ one of only 26 firms to be recognized in this category, with its Product Liability and Toxic Tort Practice Team earning ‘Powerhouse’ status (representing the top 2% of all firms nationwide).

In addition, BakerHostetler’s Commercial Litigation Practice Team was recognized in the ‘Leaders’ category for complex commercial litigation (top 4%) and commercial litigation (top 5%). The firm’s Class Action Defense Practice Team also earned praise in BTI’s ‘Leaders’ category, which honors just the top 6% all firms.

“We were highly ranked in last year’s BTI Most Feared in Litigation Report, and we continue to bolster our internationally recognized litigation practice by  adding credentialed, experienced trial lawyers to our growing bench,” said Ray Whitman, chair of BakerHostetler’s national Litigation Practice Group. ”The recognition is a testament to the hard work of our litigators and their dedication to clients.”

Labor and Employment

Additionally, BTI recognized BakerHostetler’s Labor and Employment Practice Group as a litigation ‘Standout’ for complex employment litigation. Only the top 10% of firms, nationwide, are recognized as a complex employment litigation ‘Standout.’

“Employment litigation continues to be a busy legal sector, especially for class actions. Our team is focused on staying on top of the issues clients face and providing comprehensive strategies to combat lawsuits,” said Labor and Employment practice group chair Amy Traub.

Intellectual Property

BakerHostetler’s Intellectual Property practice group was also named a litigation ‘Standout’ by BTI, representing just the top 10% of firms nationwide in IP.

“Safeguarding intellectual property is critically important for companies operating in the global economy. We have the capabilities to help clients protect and enforce their IP domestically and internationally, and we continue to enhance our practice by adding top talent in many different sectors,” said Mark H. Tidman, chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group.

BTI Litigation Outlook 2023 is based solely on in-depth telephone interviews with leading legal decision makers for litigation services between March and September 2022. This comprehensive analysis trends data from more than 20,000 corporate counsel client interviews conducted over the span of 21 years.
