Beginning on July 1, 2023, all lawyers licensed in New York will be required to obtain at least one CLE credit in Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Protection as part of their biennial CLE requirement. This CLE program is designed to provide you with the CLE credit you need and meets the requirements for the Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Protection—Ethics credit, which can also count toward your Ethics and Professionalism CLE requirement.
Our panel will provide an overview of the following topics:
- Ethical obligations and professional responsibilities regarding data protection
- Key laws related to cybersecurity, privacy and data protection
- Risks and privacy implications for lawyers
- Protecting confidential data
- Supervising others with access to confidential data
- Inadvertent or unauthorized disclosures of confidential information – internal and external threats
1.0 CLE credit hour in Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Protection—Ethics (pending approval)
Please note that any Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Protection CLE credits earned after January 1, 2023 will count toward the new requirement.
