Overview

Dominic Gentile focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and has successfully represented corporate and individual clients in defending against and prosecuting breach of contract, fraud and fraudulent misrepresentation claims. Dominic also has experience in white collar criminal matters involving investigations of embezzlement and fraud.

Prior to joining BakerHostetler, Dominic completed a successful career with the New York City Police Department, where he was responsible for conducting and supervising numerous criminal investigations. An experienced criminal investigator, Dominic has successfully seen to fruition numerous cases involving wire fraud and violations of the Bank Secrecy Act and its attendant anti-money laundering provisions.

Complex Commercial Litigation
  • Works on a variety of litigation matters associated with BakerHostetler's court-appointed representation of Irving H. Picard, SIPA Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.
  • Represented a corporate entity in a trademark infringement case in which a competing establishment infringed on the client’s common law trademark. Won a permanent injunction against infringing company, the right to register the trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and negotiated a monetary award offsetting legal fees.
White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations
  • Secured complete dismissal of all charges against a client charged with six counts of insurance fraud. Established that the charges were based on erroneous information provided by the insurance company.
  • Obtained dismissal of criminal charges against a client charged with two counts of criminal impersonation of a public official through repeated negotiations with the state prosecutor's office.

  • Represented a corporate entity in a trademark infringement case in which a competing establishment infringed on the client’s common law trademark.   • Successfully represented 123 NYPD sergeants in a matter challenging their eligibility for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant in an Article 78 proceeding seeking to enjoin their promotions due to allegations of improprieties by other test takers. 
  • Defended a corporate client with a large global presence in a contract dispute with a vendor obtaining a grant of summary judgment in the client's favor.
  • Served as member of a team representing real estate developers prosecuting claims related to the manipulation of LIBOR submissions by panel banks.
  • Successfully represented a corporate client in the New York Court of Appeals in the enforcement of a post-judgment information subpoena.
