Overview

Geri Edens focuses her environmental law practice on natural resource law and counseling clients on environmental litigation, enforcement and compliance matters. With a strong background in health, the biological sciences and statistics, Geri understands the intersection between science and law and how it applies to the situations facing her clients. With this knowledge, she guides clients through litigation, federal processes and governmental regulations as efficiently as possible.

  • Counsels on all aspects of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance and related statutes for the first U.S. utility-scale offshore wind project to be sited off Cape Cod in Nantucket Sound and defends the adequacy of federal reviews in multiple forums.

  • Counseled on NEPA litigation risks associated with a major offshore oil project to be located in the Beaufort Sea and developed a comprehensive approach for working with the government to minimize those risks. 
  • Defended the adequacy of the environmental impact statement for a major interstate pipeline right-of-way approval. 
  • Developed detailed litigation defense strategies for Endangered Species Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act and Clean Water Act Section 404 wetlands permitting for oil development and production off the North Slope of Alaska.  
  • Defended a company against natural resource damage claims brought in New Jersey, favorably resolving all claims for the client. 
  • Counsels clients on Food and Drug Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture approvals for products directly or indirectly added to food and feed.
