  • Served as first chair at a three-member-panel American Arbitration Association (AAA) arbitration trial in an engineering case based in Equatorial Guinea concerning the design and implementation of a gas-fired turbine control system. Handled all depositions as well as most direct and cross examinations at trial. Client sought recovery of damages for breach of contract and was countersued for delay damages. Results were in favor of the client, with dismissal of all counterclaims.
  • Served as first chair at an AAA arbitration trial representing a publicly traded energy company in a breach of employment contract brought by the former owner of an acquired engineering company. The former owner of the acquired company stayed on as an executive with the publicly traded company after acquisition. He later asserted claims relating to the terms of his employment contract. Following a week-long trial before a three-member panel, the client received a complete defense award.

  • Acted as counsel in an AAA arbitration trial for an international engineering company involving damages against the subcontractor on construction of an ethylene plant. The case related to the design and construction errors of the subcontractor. Conducted multiple examinations of key witnesses at trial. The case settled in favor of the client.
  • Represented an engineering client in a suit for $30 million after the rupture of a high-pressure steam meter. The rupture caused the petrochemical plant to stop operations and resulted in alleged damages of $30 million. The matter was resolved by the dismissal of all claims.
  • Represented a technology licensing company in multiple lawsuits regarding the application of a licensed process used in the petrochemical industry. Related cases were pending in state courts of multiple states as well as AAA arbitration. The case was favorably resolved.
  • Represented an industrial equipment manufacturer in a multiple-plaintiff suit in which the plaintiffs alleged physical injuries due to benzene exposure. The case resulted in favor of the client, with the dismissal of all claims.
  • Represented a medical device manufacturer when a competing company began using confidential information acquired in negotiations. After completing discovery on an expedited basis, obtained a federal court order prohibiting the use of certain confidential information and providing for royalty payments. The case ultimately resulted in a highly favorable settlement for the client.
