Loura Alaverdi is a skilled litigator with extensive experience in high-stakes domestic and international disputes. She handles cases involving complex international frauds, money laundering, civil asset forfeiture, RICO, alter ego liability, and allegations of misconduct against high level corporate officers. Loura has a savvy business sense and works hand-in-hand with clients to devise a litigation strategy that furthers the clients' broader business objectives.   • Represented British barristers in a six-week, high-profile jury trial in New York defeating $37 million fraud and breach of fiduciary duty claims by Brunei's sovereign wealth fund and a Bruneian prince.
  • Represented foreign entities in civil forfeiture and money laundering litigation brought by the United States in the Southern District of New York.
  • Representing real estate entities in fraud litigation against a foreign LIBOR panel bank and its subsidiaries based on the manipulation of LIBOR rates.
  • Serving as litigation counsel to the Securities Investor Protection Act Trustee for the global liquidation of the estate of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, one of the largest financial frauds in history.
  • Obtained dismissal of the current CEO and former CFO of a publicly traded company in a California lawsuit involving allegations of an international RICO conspiracy. Based on success obtained on behalf of corporate officers and directors, was retained to join the company's trial team, which successfully settled the case after a week of trial.
  • Represented a lobbying firm against a former employee for breach of duty of loyalty and misappropriation of trade secrets.
  • Served as lead trial counsel in winning judgment on behalf of a Korean importer suing on claims fraud and breach of contract in California.
  • Served as second chair in a five-week jury trial in California state court involving claims of employment harassment and discrimination against a national freightforwarding company.
  • Prosecuted a claim on behalf of a music entertainer against a clothing manufacturer for misappropriating his name and image.
  • Represented a professional skateboarder in negotiating a development agreement with a production company in connection with a pilot.
