Maria de Dios’ developing corporate practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts and corporate governance matters. She is also a member of the BakerHostetler team serving as court-appointed counsel to the Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC (BLMIS).

While in law school, Maria served as the Symposium Editor for the Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial & Commercial Law. Her note, “The Sixth Pillar of Anti-Money Laundering Compliance: Balancing Effective Enforcement with Financial Privacy,” was published in the Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial & Commercial Law in 2016.

Pro Bono

  • Works with Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund on the Name Change Project to assist transgender individuals in legally changing their names to reflect their gender identity.
  • Revised and updated a non-profit organization’s federal and state employment rights guide for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
  • Provided pro bono transactional legal services for early stage startups as a member of the Brooklyn Law Incubator & Policy (BLIP) Clinic. Assisted clients with entity formation, drafted foundational contracts and advisory memoranda, and provided guidance regarding various intellectual property and data privacy issues.
  • Member of the Brooklyn Law School Pro Bono Uncontested Divorce Project affiliated with the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project. Participated in client interviews, prepared divorce petitions, and filed court papers for clients involved in self-represented uncontested divorces.
