Overview

Maria de Dios is a member of the BakerHostetler team serving as court-appointed counsel to the Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC (BLMIS).

While in law school, Maria served as the Symposium Editor for the Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial & Commercial Law. Her note, “The Sixth Pillar of Anti-Money Laundering Compliance: Balancing Effective Enforcement with Financial Privacy” was published in the Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial & Commercial Law in 2016.

Recognitions and Memberships

Pro Bono

  • Provided pro bono transactional legal services for early stage startups as a member of the Brooklyn Law Incubator & Policy (BLIP) Clinic. Assisted clients with entity formation, drafted foundational contracts and advisory memoranda, and provided guidance regarding various intellectual property and data privacy issues.
  • Member of the Brooklyn Law School Pro Bono Uncontested Divorce Project affiliated with the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project. Participated in client interviews, prepared divorce petitions, and filed court papers for clients involved in self-represented uncontested divorces.
