Overview

Marshall Mattera is an experienced advocate and adviser for commercial clients seeking to limit risk in litigation and data privacy matters. He has represented clients in a wide range of industries, including technology, retail, finance, fine art, private equity and construction, and dedicates his practice to providing solutions to meet clients’ goals.

For both active litigation and proactive risk counseling, Marshall leverages his experience managing all phases of commercial litigation, including in various complex, consolidated proceedings. In addition to his broader practice, Marshall is currently a member of the BakerHostetler team serving as court-appointed counsel to the Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC (BLMIS), an unprecedented effort involving more than 1,000 lawsuits filed by the SIPA Trustee to recover assets for defrauded BLMIS customers.

Marshall also holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional credential for U.S. data protection (CIPP/US). He maintains up-to-date, specialized knowledge of privacy laws affecting U.S. companies, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), to educate clients and keep them compliant in an emerging and dynamic legal landscape.
