Public Policy, Lobbying and Advocacy

Overview

Our Federal Policy team includes two former Members of Congress – one Republican, one Democrat – as well as former senior congressional and committee staff and former executive branch officials. Our team leverages the combined experience and diverse backgrounds of these former government officials to deliver value-added government affairs consulting services, including forward-thinking policy insights that provide healthcare clients with essential information about the politics, processes and personalities that shape legislative and regulatory actions.

We help clients understand and avoid risks and recognize opportunities in Washington. We identify and develop legislative champions – lawmakers on Capitol Hill who understand and appreciate our client’s business and who will advocate on behalf of our clients. We draft legislation and lobby to shape legislative outcomes and work with agencies to implement regulations that meet clients’ business and strategic goals.

The 2016 addition of former Congressman Mike Ferguson as leader of our Federal Policy team affirmed our reputation as a pre-eminent policy firm among Washington decision-makers. Congressman Ferguson represented New Jersey for nearly a decade in the House, including serving as a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, which has broad jurisdiction over healthcare policy. In fact, Congressman Ferguson served as vice chairman of the panel’s Health Subcommittee during enactment of Medicare Part D.

Our lobbying healthcare clients include major pharmaceutical manufacturers as well as biotechnology companies that are pre-commercial and even pre-clinical; national pharmaceutical and biotechnology trade associations; medical device and technology manufacturers; hospitals, including children’s hospitals; and pharmacy compounders.
