With more than 25 years of experience representing employers, Dick Mandelson brings seasoned, practical judgment to the difficult situations facing his clients. Dick has represented some of Colorado's largest employers in employment class actions and has extensive experience litigating employment law cases. He is nonadversarial in his labor and employment law practice, looking to resolve litigation for his clients rather than unnecessarily force them into the courtroom.

Dick is the Denver office's Employment Law group coordinator. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America© since 2011.

Select Experience

  • Represented client in national class action filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against national restaurant chain. Obtained resolution for client prior to litigation occurring. Demonstrated strengths of client’s case in glass ceiling-provoked class action and showed that it would be in best interest of all parties to avoid litigation.
  • Won two cases of wrongful discharge on summary judgment in federal court. Assessed situations facing clients and crafted strategy to have cases removed from trial early in litigation process.
  • In National Labor Relations Board election, defeated union of 450 people. Experience in labor relations provided knowledge of matter intricacies, which enabled assessment and actions to be completed accordingly. Met with top management and supervisors to develop communication plan to address potential voters.
  • Handled OSHA matters involving citations for various violations in the manufacturing industry and for utility companies. The citations involved a multitude of issues from electrical infractions to dust issues. All cases resolved without litigation.
