Overview

Possessing a depth of experience in all aspects of intellectual property, Shannon McCue formulates intellectual property strategies that leverage various intellectual property rights in tandem to achieve his clients’ business goals. These strategies include procuring intellectual property rights, enforcing those rights and analyzing the rights of others. In addition to preparing well over 100 patent applications in a broad variety of technologies, Shannon is a seasoned litigator who has appeared in a number of federal courts throughout the United States, and has worked with foreign counsel to enforce his clients’ rights in other countries.

Active in the development and advancement of intellectual property law, Shannon co-drafted the American Bar Association’s Model Jury Instructions: Copyright, Trademark and Trade Dress Litigation, and is a member of the Federal Rules Committee that drafted Patent Local Rules for the Northern District of Ohio. Most recently, his two-part series on social media policies was published in the National Licensing Journal.

To meet the client’s goals of growing its portfolio, managing costs and addressing the change to the first to file system, Mr. McCue streamlined the patent application preparation strategy, conducted patent harvests and ideation sessions, and managed a team of attorneys to efficiently move applications more quickly to allowance.
