BakerHostetler Partner Alan Friel, with assistance from Associates Stephanie Lucas and Moustafa Badreldin, authored the “Direct marketing Q&A: US,” published by Thomson Reuters in its 2017 Cross-border Commercial Transaction Guide. The Q&A offers an overview of U.S. sales and marketing laws — specifically, the Telemarketing and Consumer Fraud and Abuse Act, as well as the Telemarketing Sales Rule issued under it by the Federal Trade Commission; and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, enacted by Congress and regulated by the Federal Communications Commission.
