Partner Barbara Linney contributed an article to the Spring 2020 WIIT Communique, a quarterly publication of the Association of Women in International Trade (WIIT). The Spring issue focused on women in traditionally male-dominated industries, and Linney’s article, “Women in the Legal Profession,” addressed the inequality faced by many women in the legal practice regarding opportunities for recruitment, compensation and equity partnership.

She noted that BakerHostetler is taking a leading role in recruiting and supporting women lawyers, and that the firm has been nationally recognized for its innovative programs that support new parents and working mothers.

Linney’s article concludes: “Changing the makeup of the legal profession and its leadership will take a sustained effort on the part of all law firms to recruit, retain and advance women attorneys. Improvements must be jealously guarded, and we must remain vigilant to ensure that they are sustained, particularly during challenging times such as these during which the burdens of home schooling and child care may fall disproportionately on working mothers.”
