Elizabeth McCurrach Makes Case for Allowing Nike's Advanced Running Shoes

Associate Elizabeth McCurrach authored an opinion article published Nov. 18, 2019, by The article, “World Athletics Should Allow Nike’s Innovative Running Shoes,” examines how Nike’s new ZoomX Vaporfly Next% running shoes appear to allow runners to run faster for longer periods of time. That technological advancement has drawn protests and the sport’s governing body, World Athletics, has begun considering whether to ban the use of the Nike shoes.
