George Klidonas Article Examines Repercussions Following Ban on "Fees on Fees"

Associate George Klidonas published an article in the January 2016 issue of American Bankruptcy Institute Journal. The article, “Fees on Fees Prohibited by the Supreme Court: The Aftershock,” discusses the U.S. Supreme Court decision on whether professionals in bankruptcy can be reimbursed for the time they spend defending fee applications. Generally, estate professionals are paid from the bankruptcy estate but if there is a dispute about their fees, the Supreme Court effectively has concluded that those “fees on fees” are not reimbursable. A number of decisions have addressed this issue since the Supreme Court’s holding. The article discusses those cases and expected future arguments moving forward.
