Associates Michael Sabella and Anat Maytal authored an article published in the Fall 2020 Newsletter of the New York City Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. The article, “The COVID-19 Pandemic and Its Impact on Employees With Disabilities,” discusses and dispels certain preconceived ideas about employees with disabilities as well as how the pandemic has forced companies to design work-from-home frameworks. Sabella and Maytal, both of whom have hearing disabilities, note that while some work-from-home issues pose challenges, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in increased access and accommodations for employees with disabilities that were not otherwise available. They suggest that this may be a roadmap for companies to rethink policies that may have created unnecessary barriers for their employees with disabilities.
