A white paper co-authored by Partner Teresa Goody Guillén and Associates Michelle Tanney and Audrey van Duyn has been published by RSM US. The article, written in collaboration with RSM, is titled, “Criminal Acts Alleging Crypto-Related Crime Expected to Rise in 2021” and discusses how criminals are taking advantage of the inherent anonymity of cryptocurrency to prevent authorities from tracing funds in ransomware attacks and other illicit behavior. The authors also examine guidance issued by regulatory agencies to help financial institutions be proactive with their cryptocurrency compliance programs.
