As a member of the Insurance and Regulatory team, Courtney Faust focuses her practice on the formation, licensing, regulation and governance of companies in the insurance industry. This includes insurers, reinsurers, MGAs, administrators and other providers of insurance and financial services with a particular focus on captive insurance programs. Her experience includes drafting and reviewing all corporate documents, contracts and insurance policies and providing advice regarding all aspects of insurance industry regulatory compliance, including Department of Insurance inquiries and licensing issues.
Courtney has also recently expanded her practice to include mergers and acquisitions and corporate consolidations of companies in the insurance industry.
Prior to joining private practice, Courtney developed and led compliance initiatives and legal strategies for a leading provider and administrator of finance and insurance products in the automotive industry. She has specific experience with the formation, licensing and regulation of dealer-owned obligor companies as well as the drafting and regulation of service contracts, guaranteed asset protection waivers and motor vehicle protection products. She also held a variety of positions with the Georgia Department of Insurance, advising on regulatory issues that affected licensing, financial solvency of insurance entities and domiciled captive insurance companies. While at the Department, Courtney was appointed by the Commissioner to be the Director of the Captive Insurance Division and was instrumental in the establishment of Georgia as a captive domicile.
