Overview

Damon Barhorst is a member of the firm's Digital Risk Advisory and Cybersecurity team. He works with clients to not only respond to data breaches, but to identify and evaluate potential risks and put systems in place to mitigate that risk while staying in compliance with state, federal and international data protection laws.

Damon is also a member of the BakerHostetler team serving as court-appointed counsel to the Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC (BLMIS), an unprecedented recovery effort involving hundreds of actions.

  • Drafted numerous legal documents for clients, including public statements in response to cybersecurity incidents and closing memoranda based on forensic expert reports.
  • Working on cases in active discovery and document review to prepare evidence supporting the SIPA trustee’s claims against defendants, and is also working to respond to document requests from defendants.
