Webinar: What the New CFIUS Rules Mean for Real Estate Deals

Events / Thursday, March 5, 2020

As a result of legislation passed in 2018, effective February 13, 2020, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) will have jurisdiction to review transactions that convey certain rights in U.S. real estate to foreign persons, other than parties from Australia, Canada and the UK who meet certain criteria.

In this webinar, Gina Mavica, partner in our real estate practice, and Barbara Linney, partner and co-leader of our International Trade and National Security team, explained the new rules and answered questions regarding how to determine if your transaction is subject to CFIUS jurisdiction, as well as the factors to consider when deciding whether to seek CFIUS review.

1.0 hour of CLE credit offered in California, Florida, Georgia, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas, and via reciprocity in New Jersey. For all other states, credit will be applied for as requested.
