Please join former Congressman Mike Ferguson, leader of BakerHostetler’s <a href="https://www.bakerlaw.com/FederalPolicy">Federal Policy</a> team, and former Congressman <a href="https://www.bakerlaw.com/HeathShuler">Heath Shuler</a>, Senior Advisor for the Federal Policy team for a series of webinars on the federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, there’s nothing more important than the government’s response to the coronavirus. The Trump administration is taking an all-hands-on-deck approach, led by Vice President Mike Pence, and Congress in the past month approved three broad legislative packages addressing the crisis.

What more does Washington need to do? What’s working, and what’s not? What can Washington learn from local officials and first responders? Over the next several weeks, we plan to ask important questions of key decision-makers, and we’ll kick off this special series with a bipartisan pair of lawmakers from the House and Senate.

On Monday, April 6, we heard from Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy, D-Fla. She is a member of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, including the Worker and Family Support Subcommittee, which oversees the federal safety-net programs at the core of the legislative response supporting workers and families struggling with the economic impact of the crisis. As a leader of the Blue Dog Coalition of moderate Democrats, Congresswoman Murphy has emerged as an important voice for pragmatic legislating in a polarized Washington.
