Paravano & Lehrer Address Tax Executives Institute

Jeffrey Paravano, Managing Partner of the firm's Washington, D.C., office, and associate John Lehrer were invited to address the 60th Midyear Conference of the Tax Executives Institute (TEI), held April 11-14, 2010, in Washington, D.C. TEI is the preeminent professional organization of in-house Tax Professionals, whose members are business executives responsible for taxation matters on an administrative or policy-making level.

Paravano and Lehrer were panelists, along with William Alexander, Associate Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service, for the "Federal Tax" session. The panelists discussed developments in corporate and consolidated tax return guidance, including the recently codified economic substance doctrine which was part of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.
