News / February 17, 2020

Partner Alan Friel is quoted in an article published Feb. 11, 2020, by Global Data Review. The article, “Revised CCPA Regulations Slightly More Business-Friendly, Experts Say,” reports on California Attorney General Xavier Beccera’s recent revisions to the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) regulations, which have addressed of the concerns of the business community, but also left many questions unanswered.

“The documents and other information relied upon by the AG in drafting these modified regulations are technical, theoretical, and/or empirical studies, with no statement of reasons akin to the initial statement of reasons released with the initial draft regulations last October,” Friel told the publication. “Unfortunately, this makes interpretation more challenging, but hopefully the AG will release a new statement of reasons accompanying the final regulations.”
