Barron Avery Comments on Conflict of Interest Rules Surrounding Federal Procurement

News / June 30, 2017

Partner Barron Avery is quoted in an article published June 27, 2017, in the Federal Contracts Report published by Bloomberg Law. The article, “Trump-Tied Company May Get $1.7 Billion FBI Bid. Then What?,” examines the potential for a protest being filed if Vornado Realty Trust wins the $1.7 billion General Services Administration contract to build a new FBI headquarters. Vornado, one of three finalists for the work, has connections to President Trump and to White House advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Avery told the publication: ‘‘Without all of the details of the relationships, it’s hard to say what types of mitigation tools can be used here, but this type of conflict can likely be mitigated if the agency takes the right steps, particularly if the issue is potential unequal access to information.”
