Casie Collignon Talks to Law Week Colorado About Settlement Payments Intended to Stymie a Class Action

News / February 9, 2016

Partner Casie Collignon is quoted in an article published in the Feb. 1, 2016, issue of Law Week Colorado. The article, “Supreme Court Nullifies Named Plaintiff Pick-Offs,” analyzes the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Campbell-Ewald v. Gomez that narrows the options for defendants to seek an early dismissal of a potential class-action case by offering full relief to the plaintiff. Collignon says that she believes the ruling is limited to its facts and that there still is an avenue for defendants to theoretically moot a case by tendering the plaintiff an actual settlement payment.
