Ed Friedman, Greg Saikin Comment on Reinstating Medicaid Reimbursements to Texas Providers

News / February 7, 2019

Partners Ed Friedman and Greg Saikin are included in an article published Feb. 6, 2019, in the Austin American-Statesman. The article, “After Lapse, Health Service Providers See Medicare Payments,” reports on the resumption of Medicaid reimbursements to health service providers following a state district court’s order obtained against the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). Friedman and Saikin, as well as Associate Sam Doran, are representing seven home health agency providers after HHSC and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services changed the telemonitoring service reimbursement codes for about 300 home health agencies, resulting in a lapse in payments and, by extension, a substantial risk to the ongoing care of thousands of Texas Medicaid recipients. The team’s efforts led to an agreement with HHSC that required the agency to expedite payment to the firm’s clients.

“In prioritizing payments to our clients, HHSC acknowledged the merits of our claim and the seriousness of the situation it created,” Saikin told the publication.
