Joel Griswold Comments on Pressure to Expand Biometric Privacy Regulations

Partner Joel Griswold is quoted in an article published on Jan. 15, 2021, by Law360. The article “NY, FTC Lead Charge to Expand Biometric Privacy Shields,” reports on new regulatory pressure on companies to be more transparent about their use of customer biometric data.

Griswold told the publication, “Given the outcome of the election, there is a greater possibility that a national biometric act, such as the NBIPA, could become law." The NBIPA, the National Biometric Information Privacy Act, is proposed legislation that would prohibit private companies from collecting biometric data without consumers and employees’ consent.
