John Carney says He Expects FCPA Enforcement to Remain Robust

News / April 3, 2017

Partner John Carney is quoted in an article published Feb. 22, 2017, by Compliance Week. The article, “The FCPA is Unlikely to Vanish Under President Trump,” discusses the potential future of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) enforcement activity under the Trump administration.

Carney told the publication: “I don’t see any slowing down in FCPA enforcement and, in fact, I think it might pick up in some areas.” He also noted that if the goal of the new administration is to level the playing field, there is more reason for prosecutors to use the FCPA to pursue foreign companies engaging in corrupt acts that trade on U.S. exchanges.
