The Federal Trade Commission is in the process of developing privacy and data security rules that could have an enormous impact on how companies use and disclose consumer data. In a Sept. 1, 2022, Law360 article titled “FTCs Privacy Rulemaking Faces Bumpy Path Forward,” Partner Daniel Kaufman says the FTC needs to be transparent about its intentions. He also says that, while the rulemaking has generated tremendous interest and is very important, “whether it reaches the end stage remains unclear.”
