Laura Jehl Comments on Coinbase Interest in Setting Up a Digital Currency Market

News / April 20, 2018

Partner Laura Jehl is quoted in an article published April 16, 2018, by Reuters. The article, “Regulatory hurdles high as Coinbase talks with SEC on launching digital currency market,” discusses a plan by digital marketplace Coinbase to set up a regulated exchange for digital currencies.

“It is the path they have taken, as I read it, to be the digital currency company that puts regulation up front,” Jehl told Reuters. “They appear to have made, to my understanding, a good faith effort to have the robust security and compliance up front because they intended to be a place for institutional investors.”

Such an exchange would require approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Jehl added that Coinbase appears to be “willing to jump through hoops to make it happen.”
