Salt Lake City (7 November 2017) — The Sovrin Foundation announced the addition of AmLaw 100 firm BakerHostetler as a founding steward of the Sovrin Network. With more than 900 attorneys located in 14 offices coast to coast, BakerHostetler helps clients around the world address their most complex business and regulatory issues.

The Sovrin Foundation is an international non-profit charged with maintaining the independence and vitality of the Sovrin network: the only global identity infrastructure that supports privacy-enhancing self-sovereign identity using a purpose-built distributed ledger at its core.

As a steward, BakerHostetler will join other stewards in dedicating computing and technical resources to the task of ensuring the Sovrin network is available, public, and secure. Their support will help make self-sovereign identity a reality for Internet users around the world.

The Sovrin Foundation’s constitutional Trust Framework mandates that stewards represent a diverse cross-section of the business landscape, thus helping to maintain Sovrin’s independence by minimizing the possibility that any stewards exert undue influence over the network.

As a founding Sovrin steward, BakerHostetler — already known for its early adoption of artificial intelligence — further solidifies its reputation as a leader in technological innovation.
