Mark Barron Comments on Government's Decision to Rescind Drilling Rules

News / March 16, 2017

Partner Mark Barron is quoted in articles E&E News and Law360 published on March 16, 2017. The articles report on the federal government’s notification to the Tenth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that the Trump administration intends to rescind rules that restrict drilling on federal and Indian lands. Environmental groups, however, have asked that the litigation move forward.

Barron, who represents the Independent Petroleum Association of America and the Western Energy Alliance in opposing the rules, told E&E News that he's "pleased that they're reconsidering a rule that was not well-considered in the first place." Last summer, the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming's struck down the regulations, finding that the Interior Department lacks authority to regulate fracking.
