Mark Barron Comments on Issues between Utes and the BLM

News / July 13, 2016

Partner Mark Barron is quoted in an article published July 7, 2016, on EnergyWire. The article discusses the issues facing the Bureau of Land Management’s rule that lumps together tribal land and federal land, making no distinction between the two. Barron said, “The Utes understandably desire to manage how their own sovereign lands are developed and wish to ensure that development proceeds in a manner that accounts for reservation-specific factors and the tribe’s cultural relationship with their land. BLM’s one-size-fits-all approach fails to consider the tribe’s cultural, geographic or environmental needs.”
