Matt Hunsaker Talks to Wall Street Journal about California vs. Texas Tax Landscape

News / December 16, 2020

Partner Matt Hunsaker is quoted in an article published by The Wall Street Journal on Dec. 16, 2020. The article, “Texas’ Tax Advantage is All About Individuals, Not Business Taxes,” discusses how moves by high-profile companies from California to Texas are unlikely to make little difference in the corporate tax bill, but significant tax savings for high-paid executives.

“It’s not always a clear-cut case that Texas is a winner compared to California,” Hunsaker told the publication. “It’s not worlds apart for business taxes. But it can be worlds apart for [individual] income taxes, and a lot of times that’s important to the business in managing their payroll costs and keeping their employees happy.”
