Partners Lana Muranovic and Melissa Mannino were quoted extensively in a Jan. 27, 2023, Foreign Investment Watch article titled “U.S. government kicks off latest survey of foreign direct investment.”
The article focuses on the Benchmark Survey of Foreign Direct Investment in the United States (BE-12), the most recent of which covers the years 2017 to 2022.
Muranovic and Mannino stressed the significance of the survey to businesses (U.S. firms with one or more foreign investors owning at least 10 percent of the enterprise must submit filings), also noting that government agencies are not permitted to use survey data for investigative or regulatory purposes. Still, the BE-12 provides the government with extensive information about foreign direct investment trends and economic impacts, they said.
