Paul Schmidt, Jay Nanavati Talk to Bloomberg about Tax Compliance Efforts under Trump

News / January 13, 2017

Partners Paul Schmidt and Jay Nanavati are quoted in an article published by Bloomberg BNA’s “Daily Tax Report” on Jan. 13, 2017. The article “Will Trump Keep Spotlight on Multinationals’ Tax Compliance?” discusses the future of the federal government’s crackdown on tax cheats in coming months.

Schmidt is quoted as saying that he believes it is more likely that the administration will focus on tax reform and later make a policy decision about how much to focus on enforcement. Nanavati told Bloomberg that after the tax revamp is complete, there could be a renewed emphasis on noncompliance because pursuing tax cheats provides a big return on Department of Justice spending.
