Ted Jacobs Speaks at Georgetown Law Advanced E-Discovery Institute

News / January 11, 2018

Partner Ted Jacobs spoke on a panel at the 14th Annual Advanced eDiscovery Institute in Washington, D.C., Nov. 16 and 17, 2017. The panel, “Motions Practice? Don’t Just Go Through the Motions,” included a demonstration of advocacy techniques and was moderated by the Honorable J. Michelle Childs (D. S.C.). Attendees learned to craft compelling discovery motions and responses (even for disinterested audiences), saw how skilled advocates quickly get to what matters in motions hearings, acquired strategies to communicate complex technical matters on paper and in court, and consider whether there is a bias in favor of movants and, if so, how to minimize the potential impact of that bias.

The institute has earned a reputation among judges, practitioners, and vendors as the leading e-discovery conference of its kind in the United States. The program gave attendees access to more federal and state judges than any similar program and provided the opportunity to learn at an advanced level from the leading e-discovery practitioners and academics from across the country.
