Todd Lebowitz Talks about Potential Changes to Gig Worker Policies

News / September 26, 2018

Partner Todd Lebowitz is quoted in an article published Sept. 25, 2018, in Bloomberg Law’s “Daily Labor Report.” The article, “Labor Secretary Eyes Gig Worker Policy,” reports that U.S. Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta said his agency is looking at changing the federal regulations governing gig workers and other independent contractors, likely taking a more business-friendly approach to worker classification and supervision.

The story notes that courts have been flooded with questions about whether various workers are employees or independent contractors.

“Right now, companies can have legitimate independent contractors under some laws that would be considered employees under others,” Lebowitz told Bloomberg Law.
