LOS ANGELES -- Oct. 5, 2017 — BakerHostetler today announced the addition of Partner Mark A. Kadzielski to the firm’s Los Angeles office national healthcare industry team. Kadzielski joins from Pepper Hamilton LLP where he headed that firm’s West Coast health law practice. Counsel Jeeyoung Kim also joined the firm from Pepper Hamilton LLP.

Kadzielski and Kim join nearly 100 attorneys who advise healthcare entities across multiple practice areas, including corporate, transactional, contract, managed care, antitrust, employment and labor, data breach, compliance, litigation, white collar, business, tax, government policy and intellectual property.

Kadzielski focuses his practice on representing hospitals, medical staffs, managed care enterprises, and institutional and individual healthcare providers through government regulatory and licensing matters, peer review, joint commission accreditations, credentialing, compliance and corporate governance oversight, and Medicare certification. He also has led clients through government investigations and enforcement actions, including hearings and appeals before the United States Supreme Court, California Supreme Court and federal and state courts. Kadzielski has managed hundreds of peer review and credentialing processes and has prepared more than 200 sets of medical staff bylaws.

“Mark is passionate about helping his clients navigate the changing regulatory and statutory requirements,” said Charlene McGinty, co-leader of BakerHostetler’s healthcare team. “He works to address their legal and economic risks so they can focus on delivering top-notch care. We welcome Mark and his commitment to our clients in the healthcare industry.”

John Cermak, managing partner of the Los Angeles office said, “We’re excited to have Mark and Jeeyoung join the LA office and the firm as we continue to enhance the wide range of services we offer our healthcare clients. The breadth and depth of their experience in this highly regulated healthcare industry is a tremendous benefit to our local, regional and national clients.”

“I’m looking forward to joining BakerHostetler’s national healthcare team – a terrific group of attorneys who know firsthand the challenges our clients face because they’ve served within hospitals, at health centers, and at third-party payors,” said Kadzielski. “I look forward to adding to the depth of the firm’s full-service practice and to continue extending the regulatory and operational reach of the team on the West Coast.”

Kadzielski received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1976, and earned his A.B., magna cum laude, from John Carroll University in 1968. He is a frequent writer and presenter on trends in the healthcare industry and currently serves on the editorial board of Bloomberg BNA’s Health Law Reporter. Kadzielski has been annually ranked since 2005 as a top-tier California healthcare lawyer by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. For almost 30 years, The Best Lawyers in America has selected him for its healthcare section, and he is recognized in Southern California as a Super Lawyer in health law. He was inducted in 2005 to the inaugural class of Fellows by the American Health Lawyers Association; he was one of four Californians and 40 attorneys nationwide selected for the honor.

Attorneys in BakerHostetler’s 14 offices focus on counseling healthcare clients in a highly regulated and complex industry that continues to undergo significant change.
