ORLANDO — April 26, 2018 — Keith Durkin, an experienced tax attorney and wealth planning adviser, has joined BakerHostetler as a partner in the firm’s Orlando office. Durkin comes to BakerHostetler from Broad and Cassel LLP.

Durkin is an established practitioner who can handle any client’s tax or business planning needs, no matter how complex. He has experience in a broad range of matters, including tax planning, intra-family wealth planning, business succession, all probate matters, and sophisticated estate and trust administrations. He routinely structures estate plans and business operations in the most tax-efficient manner possible, while achieving the client’s stated goals.

Durkin has served as the lead attorney in a $20 million estate litigation where he obtained a favorable settlement for his client and provided other representation that included restructuring trusts, providing income tax advice and preparing various complex tax-driven agreements. He has also led numerous corporate matters, including a $40 million multistate corporate restructuring that was part loan and part sale.

“Keith’s experience working with clients in unique and complex financial situations will be a great asset to our team,” said Robert Galloway, who heads BakerHostetler’s private wealth practice. “The private wealth group provides unmatched counsel and service for clients, and I’m excited to see Keith continue that tradition of excellence as part of our team in Florida and nationwide.”

“With the addition of Keith to the Orlando office, our clients in the region have gained a valuable asset for all of their sophisticated estate and corporate planning needs,” said James Etscorn, managing partner of BakerHostetler’s Orlando office.

Durkin earned an LL.M from the New York University School of Law and a J.D. from the University of Miami Law School. He is a board member of the Mental Health Association of Central Florida and sits on the board of directors for the Orlando Metro YMCA.

“BakerHostetler’s tax and wealth planning practices are among the finest in the nation,” said Durkin. “Joining this firm provides my clients with the backing of a strong and versatile team with strength in many offices, prepared to handle any of their complex personal and business needs.”
