BakerHostetler Announces 21 New Partners

CLEVELAND, Jan. 4, 2016 – BakerHostetler announced today that 21 lawyers have been elected to the Partnership. The new partners are in 10 of the firm’s 14 offices and represent clients in the practice areas of Business, Employment and Labor, Litigation, and Intellectual Property.

New partners in the firm’s Atlanta office:

  • Lisa N. Collins is a member of the Intellectual Property Group, supervisor of the firm’s IP Indemnification Recovery team, and a seasoned litigator who helps companies defend their products and intellectual property. She has experience in IP transactions, complex state and federal jury trials, and specialized bench trials and appeals. She earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2004 and a B.S.F.S. from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 2001.
  • Kristen McDermott Woodrum is a member of the Business Group who practices in the area of healthcare law, advising healthcare systems, providers, and companies in regulatory and compliance matters. Additionally, she structures complex healthcare transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic affiliations. She earned a J.D. from Tulane University Law School and an M.B.A. from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business in 2005, and a B.A. from Clemson University in 1996.

New partner in the firm’s Cincinnati office:

  • Patrick H. Haggerty is a member of the Litigation Group and concentrates his practice on privacy and data protection, including proactive compliance, incident response, and regulatory inquiries and litigation arising from data security and privacy incidents. He earned a J.D. in 2002 from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he received the Frank S. Rowley Scholarship, was named to the Dean’s Honors List, and served as Editor-in-Chief of the University of Cincinnati Law Review. He earned a B.S. in Business and Economics in 1999 from the University of Kentucky.

New partner in the firm’s Cleveland office:

  • Matthew Oliver is a member of the Business Group who assists clients with mergers and acquisitions, securities, finance, and corporate governance matters. He earned a J.D. from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law, cum laude, in 2008, where he was an editor of the Ohio State Law Journal. He earned a B.S.B.A. from The Ohio State University, with honors, summa cum laude, in 2005, where he received a Pace Setter Award from the Fisher College of Business.

New partners in the firm’s Columbus office:

  • Jennifer E. Edwards is a member of the Employment and Labor Group and focuses her practice on labor relations, employment litigation, and providing day-to-day counsel and advice. Jenni represents employers governed by the Railway Labor Act, the National Labor Relations Act, and the Ohio Public Employees’ Collective Bargaining Act. She earned a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law in 2005 and a B.A. in Justice and Secondary Education from American University in 1999.
  • Dustin A. Frazier is a member of the Business Group who assists clients with mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions, corporate governance, commercial finance, and real estate matters. He earned a J.D. in 2007 from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, magna cum laude and Order of the Coif. He became a C.P.A. in 2003, earned an M.A.S. from the University of Illinois in 2002 and a B.A. from Ohio University, magna cum laude, in 2001.
  • Catherine Woltering is a member of the Litigation Group who practices complex business, securities, and bankruptcy litigation, with experience in alternative dispute resolution. She currently is involved in the firm’s representation of Irving H. Picard as Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. She earned a J.D., magna cum laude, in 2008 from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif. She earned a B.A. in Mathematics from Kenyon College, magna cum laude, in 2005.

New partners in the firm’s Denver office:

  • Mark S. Barron is a member of the firm’s national energy team and assists clients in overcoming the regulatory and administrative hurdles attendant to completing mineral and resource development projects on public, private, and tribal lands. He earned a J.D., magna cum laude, in 2006 from The University of New Mexico School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He earned a B.A. in History from Cornell University in 1999.
  • Lyle A. Wallace is a member of the Business Group and serves as corporate counsel to clients in a variety of industries and as fund counsel to private equity and hedge fund clients. He earned a J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2001, an M.S. in Forest Sciences from Colorado State University in 1997, and a B.A. in Government and Politics from George Mason University in 1993.

New partners in the firm’s Houston office:

  • Kody D. L. Kleber is a member of the Litigation Group who counsels clients in a wide range of complex commercial litigation matters, including real estate, oil and gas, and contract disputes. He also handles personal injury defense and trademark enforcement matters. He earned a J.D., with honors, in 2007 from The University of Texas School of Law and clerked for the Honorable Federico A. Moreno, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He earned a B.A. from Wake Forest University, cum laude, in 2003.
  • Joshua C. Thomas is a member of the Litigation Group who practices business and commercial litigation, particularly for clients in the oil, gas, and energy industries. He earned a J.D., summa cum laude, in 2008 from the University of Houston Law Center, where he was Order of the Coif, Order of the Barons, and Managing Editor of the Houston Law Review. He earned a B.S. in Environmental Sciences from Auburn University in 1998.

New partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office:

  • Ashley M. McDow, a member of the Business Group, practices bankruptcy and commercial law representing debtors in possession, creditor committees, chapter 7 and 11 trustees, and parties to adversary actions. Ashley has authored numerous publications and is the 2016 Chair of the Executive Committee of the Commercial Law Section and Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section of the LACBA. Ashley earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 2006 and her B.A. from the University of Washington in 2003.

  • Torello H. Calvani is a member of the Litigation Group who practices securities litigation, as well as general commercial and bankruptcy litigation. He currently is involved in the firm’s representation of Irving H. Picard as Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. He earned a J.D. from Cornell University Law School in 2006 and a B.A. from Columbia University, Columbia College in 1999.
  • Patrick T. Campbell is a member of the Litigation Group who assists clients with white collar and corporate criminal and regulatory matters, as well as commercial litigation. He currently is involved in the firm’s representation of Irving H. Picard as Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. He earned a J.D., summa cum laude, in 2007 from New York Law School, where he was the Executive Online Editor of the New York Law School Law Review, and a B.B.A. from The City University of New York, Baruch College, magna cum laude, in 2004.
  • Nicholas P. Melillo is a member of the Business Group who represents institutional and private lenders, owners, developers, and investors in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions and other business and financial matters. He earned a J.D., magna cum laude, in 2006 from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where he was Managing Editor of the Touro Law Review. He earned a B.A. from the University of Vermont in 2002.
  • Brian W. Song is a member of the Litigation Group and represents clients in complex commercial litigation and criminal matters in state and federal courts. He currently is involved in the firm’s representation of Irving H. Picard as Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. He earned an LL.M. in Securities Law and Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center, with distinction, in 2007, and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law, cum laude, in 2002. He earned a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University in 1999.

  • Thomas W. Dekleva, Ph.D., is a member of the Intellectual Property Group and focuses his practice on counseling and the preparation and prosecution of patents for domestic and international clients across a spectrum of technologies. He earned a J.D. from Widener University School of Law, magna cum laude, in 2008 and a Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry from The University of British Columbia in 1983. He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Clarkson College of Technology (now Clarkson University) in 1978.

New partners in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office:

  • Hussein Akhavannik is a member of the Intellectual Property Group who practices patent prosecution and portfolio management related to the electrical, computer, medical, and mechanical arts. He earned a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, with honors, in 2007 and an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2004. He earned a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2002.
  • Andrew M. Grossman is a member of the Litigation Group and focuses his practice on constitutional law and legal policy. He earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from George Mason University in 2008 and holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Dartmouth College. He has argued major appeals involving civil rights and First Amendment rights, regularly testifies before Congress on constitutional and administrative law, and is a frequent commentator in print and on television and radio.
  • Katherine L. McKnight is a member of the firm’s Litigation Group and practices commercial litigation and election law. She counsels clients in the resolution of business, tax, bankruptcy, and intellectual property disputes, and represents clients in voting rights litigation in Federal and State courts. She currently represents clients in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (the “Rocket Docket”), where she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Claude M. Hilton. Kate earned her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Minnesota Journal of International Law. She earned a B.A. in Public Policy from Brown University.
  • Trevor M. Stanley is a member of the firm’s Litigation Group who practices in the areas of litigation and political law for clients in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. He provides legal guidance to some of the largest political committees in the United States, and he represents elected officials and candidates at all levels of government. He also is involved in the firm’s representation of Irving H. Picard as Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. He earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2008 and an A.B. from Davidson College in 2002.
